In 1996 I became interested in the Internet as an ideal medium for small businesses to expand their marketing efforts and their markets after reading a book "How to make money on the Internet". Starting out as a hobby, I learned how design web pages and put my first site, African Marketplace, on the Net in 1997 - an online retail outlet for African products. African Marketplace were the testing ground for many of my ideas and the skills and techniques I use in web design and Internet marketing. In 2003, due to export market conditions, I closed African Marketplace and started to focus on Internet marketing training and providing Internet marketing resources to businesses. Training background:
I used to be the training manager for a large life insurance company in South Africa for 6 years, responsible for compiling and conducting sales and management training for the company's sales force. This prepared me well for my job as an insurance salesman and also, combined with my experience in building Internet businesses, to design and present Internet marketing training to help Internet businesses develop into successful businesses.
Search engine rankings:
A major part of my own, and my clients', success is due to achieving high search engine positions on the major search engines like Google, MSN, Alta Vista and even Overture, although I've never paid to get search engine rankings.
My own training:
After all this time I still use the same guru's who taught me how to get my business going on the Net, e.g. the late Corey Rudl of The Internet Marketing Center and Jakob Nielsen of Alertbox.
In recent times I've become more involved in various Internet marketing and other forums where you communicate with other Internet marketers and designers from all over the globe.
Our Emarketing Workshops was a logical development from the success achieved in marketing my other sites on the Net.
Returning to my love of training I decided to apply the knowledge I gained, from building an small business web site to a point where it is getting high search engine traffic from high search engine rankings, to helping other small business web sites achieve greater success. | Perfin International is based in Pretoria, South Africa.
